THE GALUNGGUNG MOUNTAIN ERUPTED

              The Galunggung mountain was the volcano with the height 2.167 metre above sea level, was located around 17
 km from the centre of the Tasikmalaya city. Gotten by several attractions of the tour that was offered including the tourist attraction and the attraction wanawisata with the area measuring approximately 120 hectare under the Perhutani Sounding Lead management. The object that was other measuring approximately 3 hectare took the form of the hot water bathing place (Cipanas) complete with swimming pool facilities, the bathroom and the basin soaked hot water. The Galunggung mountain had the Montane Forest 1,200 - 1.500 metre and the Ericaceous Forest > 1.500 metre.





              The Galunggung  Mount is an active stratovolcano in West Java,Indonesia, part of the Sunda Arc extending through Sumatra, Java and Bali, which has resulted from the subduction of the Indian oceanic plate and the Australian plate beneath the  Eurasian Plate.

   Eruption of 1822

           Starting 8 October 1822 Galunggung began an explosive event that lasted over a month, reaching an estimated VEI of 5 and producing lahars that killed more than 4000 people. Pyroclastic flows extended almost 10km (6 miles) from the volcano.
